The activity we were given was called "garden borders. The problem gave us three images, image 1, image 2, and image 3. As you can see in the picture, the first image has one black square, the second one has two, and the third one has 3. The problem said to try to figure out how many white squares there were if you were given any number of black squares.

Recognizing patterns helped me find the solution to the problem. I saw how many white squares there were in each problem, it went up by two and after i saw that pattern, it helped me to come up with the solution that I found.

The habit was useful because looking for patterns can lead you to more patterns and further discoveries about the pattern. This habit can help me make process in the problem because it helps me to find regularity and leads me to each solution easier.
